Feedback from Intensive EMDR
"One of the biggest differences, is that no matter how hard I try to make myself think about those extremely painful and frightening memories that have unsettled me for most of my life (I’m 55), I can only bring them to mind as healed. That’s the only way to describe it and I do not use the word ‘healed’ lightly.
That I could feel the lifelong debris shifting throughout the day or days. This is different to the weekly sessions. The memories and wounds are persistently, gently, tended to until they are fully healed. I found that walking away for a week, knowing that I may need to come back to revisit something next week, meant that I might shelve difficult things in order to continue daily life and work. With an intensive, the work gets fully done.
As a result, I feel more gathered and whole…’in my own skin’…than I have for most of my life. I am present. I am all together and present. I am no longer scattered, unnerved, ill at ease or feeling like I’m floating outside of myself.
Most importantly, the process of EMDR, which involved offering myself safety and protection, has given me clarity. I started this process feeling as if I was beginning to lose my mind. I am now confident that I am of sound mind…that I have fully exhaled…that my younger parts are finally safe and free. That I am safe and free.
This felt like a real investment - financial, emotionally and timewise - so I fully understand hesitation. It’s brave.
This intensive has got to the heart of things and has shifted something, so deeply profound, that weekly EMDR sessions may have taken months, possibly years, to dislodge.
It is so worth it and I cannot recommend it strongly enough."
"My experience was of great value to me. Thoughts and feelings around unprocessed trauma evolved into memories long forgotten. I have felt lighter in spirit since and would recommend Beverley and Intensive EMDR to anyone."
"I feel like a different person. I arrived crippled by shame, suffering with flashbacks and intrusive thoughts, but literally within a few hours EMDR exposed the roots of the trauma and brought about rapid healing. Being able to continue EMDR and not have to stop after 60 minutes was so freeing. I was able to deal with the trauma and other situations linked with it in record time. I am incredibly grateful for Beverley’s flexibility with arranging the sessions at a time I could complete the intensives and her compassion and understanding of personal circumstances, yet she never judged me."
"I was privileged to try both online and face to face Intensive EMDR. Both helped me accelerate therapy and recovery. The intensives were so much more effective because I was able to keep going beyond 90 minutes and get more freedom faster. I am a Christian and was able to bring Jesus into memories, which brought me so much peace. I feel much calmer since the retreat. Beverley was incredible. She has such a compassionate trauma-informed approach. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to accelerate recovery."
